Tracey is a professional artist, working from her studio at New Brewery Arts in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
Originally studying at Falmouth Art College and specialising in Painting, Tracey went on to qualify as a teacher and worked as Head of Art at a Gloucestershire school until she became a full-time artist.
Tracey’s work is varied, portraying street scenes, seascapes, still life and a range of commissions in both acrylic and oils. She loves to experiment with use of collage, mixed media and spontaneous mark making processes.
Over the past couple of years garden birds have been a great source of interest as a subject for Tracey, both combined with her still life painting and standing alone or in small groups, as in this exhibition. The technique that she uses here is ‘Alle Prima’, which is oil painting over an acrylic ground. Working on a small square panel, Tracey is able to portray the birds approximately life size, trying to capture something of their character and form in a minimal amount of loose but carefully placed brush strokes.
