Angela Moritz works from a purpose-built studio in the grounds of a 400-year-old artisanal farmhouse high on the west escarpment of Dartmoor, with far reaching views across the Tamar Valley.
Angela has always loved art and has worked in various creative roles. She describes her art practice as “always moving forward experimenting with different mark making, materials and tools” saying “I explore painting as I do life, not everything stays the same".
Angela's latest series of paintings are cameos of the managed grazing farmland merging into the distant hills and Cornish moorland seen on walks around her local lanes. This daily visual feast is often a source of dramatic weather patterns coming from the Atlantic. She captures ideas through sketches and photos on these walks for later development in her studio. Compositions that are a joy for her to paint throughout the seasons, with continually changing shape and colour, prolonging the emotions of living in a natural semi wild location. work is varied, portraying street scenes, seascapes, still life and a range of commissions in both acrylic and oils. She loves to experiment with use of collage, mixed media and spontaneous mark making processes.
